Walking through the door at Cabin
Fever 5, I was immediately struck with a feeling of community and love.
The warmth of the group was present, a community of people that
gathered for one purpose, to get down with friends. Unlike most big
shows, you had room to dance and people were eager to get to know you.
This satisfying night of music was kicked off with a group of young
artists that took me by surprise in a big way, Karmic Juggernaut.
I hate to admit it, but my initial
thought was based on me judging their age and their potential abilities
because of how young they looked. Thankfully, I was reminded why it is
important not to judge a book by it's cover and let the experience
guide me to a final opinion. Karmic Juggernaut quickly caught my
attention with their progressive psychedelic rock style that was laid
out to the audience with clear and crisp tones. From the first pluck of
the guitar and beat of the drum, they clearly were coming to the cabin
with one intention, aid in the fans ability to get down! Their style
reminded allot of Raq and Perpetual Groove blended together with a tad
of sweetener added to them. The band played with the level of
perfection and accuracy one would expect from a band that has been
playing together for 20+ years. Most important, you could feel the
passion these guys brought to the stage. I would not be surprised to
see their name get bigger and bigger in the next few years as their
skills are overwhelming. One thing was certain, they loosened the crowd
up for Juggling Suns to take the stage and deliver in a big way.
Formed many moons ago, Juggling Suns has transformed into a
cosmic collection of talented artists that provide smooth rhythms and
bright melodies. Juggling
Suns gave all they had to give, a light wispy bright collection of
music that brought you back to that happy place inside. Once they took
the stage, the cabin explode with life, people twirling and dancing
without a care in the world. Their sets were filled with flawless
playing and even more important soul. The band offered two solid sets,
one better than the other. Juggling Sun's
playing brought a great vibe to a perfect evening. A night filled with
music that allowed you to loose yourself in the moment.
Leaving Cabin Fever 5, I was really excited about Phan Phest's upcoming festival, Phan Phest 5.
If the vibe at Cabin Fever was any indication of the energy that
community had to offer at their festival, I would not miss it for the
world. A few friends of mine have attended previous years Phan Phest's
Festivals and had great feedback on the layout and management of the
festival. Some of the things they were saying is that the festival is
family friendly, great bands and a good clean vibe. I think I am
changing my plans for my family's vacation from All Good to Phan Phest 5.
